the ‘bad guys’ kept getting hit with bricks and metal objects like a bag of hardware on their heads. it was brutal. the genre is comedy/family
the movie has the same plot as home alone 1, mostly
1. extended family is at mcallister’s house because they’re going on a holiday trip
2. kevin does something bad inadvertently, refuses to apologize
3. family gets angry at kevin. they make him sleep upstairs
4. kevin wishes to be away from his family
5. kevin ‘gets his wish' via being separated from his family on accident
6. kevin’s mom feels like she is forgetting something. her husband assures her it's ok. she screams 'kevin!'
7. kevin enjoys the perks of his vacation alone and does things as if he were an adult (in 1, going shopping and using aftershave; in 2, checking into the hotel and using room service)
8. kevin meets a lonely person who seems to be in a lower social class than him, who used to have a 'normal life,' and who he is afraid of (in 1, the man with the shovel; in 2, the woman with the pigeons)
9. kevin finds out the plans of the 'bad guys,' including the time at which they plan to strike
10. kevin befriends the lonely person he was afraid of. he has a conversation with them about the value of family and relationships at a venue where christmas music is being performed (in 1, at the church with the choir; in 2, in the rafters of the orchestra hall)
11. kevin rolls out a blueprint for his traps
12. kevin prepares his traps (vigorous x-mas music)
13. bad guys get hurt a lot, in ways that would kill them
14. kevin calls the police and tells them to go to a location that he is not at yet (in 1, his neighbor's house; in 2, central park)
15. bad guys almost get kevin. they threaten him
16. kevin is saved by the lonely person he was afraid of but later befriended. the lonely person uses their trademark characteristic in order to achieve this (in 1, he hits the bad guys with a shovel; in 2, she makes pigeons attack them)
17. cops show up and arrest bad guys. marv makes comments about what the newspapers should call them while they are being handcuffed and taken away
18. kevin’s mom tries hard to get to kevin. she explains what it is like for a mother to be separated from her child (in 1, she takes a van home with the polka band; in 2, she searches in nyc on foot)
19. kevin’s mom and kevin reunite
20. kevin reunites with rest of his extended family
21. buzz yells about something kevin did while enjoying his time alone (in 1, buzz’s room being wrecked; in 2, the room service bill)
